Vertical Lift Module (VLM) - Vertical Carousel Type

The Vertical Carousel is an intelligent, automated rotating storage unit that integrates smart warehousing with automated material handling. It operates continuously along vertical closed-loop tracks, precisely delivering loaded carriers (pans) to the operator's access window, fully embodying the "goods-to-person" picking philosophy.

    product overview

Compared with traditional man-to-goods methods, it drastically reduces the operator's travel distance and waiting time, making it especially suitable for managing light-weight parts with relatively fixed varieties, regular external dimensions, and extremely high turnover frequencies. This equipment is not a standalone hardware device but rather an intelligent node that can be deeply embedded into production chains – serving both as a temporary buffer for semi-finished products and as a dynamic surge buffer between different process steps. It effectively smooths out fluctuations in production rhythms, ensuring efficient coordination between logistics and assembly lines.

Main Features of the Vertical Carousel

    1. Space Expansion and Picking Efficiency Enhancement

By utilising vertical space, a single unit provides up to 9.1 m² of effective storage area while occupying a minimal footprint. Combined with a precise positioning system and smooth conveying motion, the equipment minimises human intervention, fundamentally eliminating picking errors and omissions. Moreover, it responds rapidly to high-frequency retrieval commands, ensuring order fulfilment with both speed and accuracy.

    2. Deeply Customisable Carrier Combinations

To accommodate the physical characteristics and management requirements of diverse materials, the carriers support multi‑dimensional flexible configurations. You may choose open‑type carriers for standard boxes and cases, or equip them with drawer cabinets, divider kits to sort vast quantities of miniature parts (e.g., electronic components, medical consumables), or utilise self‑supporting intermediate shelves to securely hold large flat workpieces (e.g., sheet metal parts, panels). With three load ratings – 180 kg, 350 kg, and 650 kg – and adjustable depth, width, and height dimensions, a single machine covers a wide range of storage scenarios, from precision fittings to medium‑weight components.

    3. Seamless Integration into Production Processes

The vertical carousel is not merely a storage facility; it is an active component within the smart manufacturing chain. It can be easily embedded into existing production layouts, serving as a line‑side warehouse that responds instantly to work‑order demands, taking on roles such as temporary material staging, buffer sequencing, and on‑demand feeding. This effectively reduces material accumulation at the line side and supports lean production management.

    4. Emergency Safeguard Under Extreme Conditions

With full consideration of power supply uncertainties in industrial environments, the equipment is standardly equipped with an emergency hand crank. In the event of a sudden power failure, operators can manually drive the mechanical structure to retrieve goods from any designated carrier, ensuring that critical materials are never trapped inside the equipment under any circumstances, thus maximising business continuity.

    5. Industry‑Wide Adaptability and Intelligent Upgradability

Featuring a modern, minimalist industrial design and open communication interfaces, the equipment perfectly suits demanding scenarios such as hotel linen rooms, hospital sterile consumable centres, automotive parts line‑side warehouses, machining workshops, and electronics SMT material rooms. Its forward‑looking technical architecture can interface with upper‑level systems like WMS and ERP, reserving ample room for the digital upgrade of internal logistics. It is an ideal cornerstone for future‑ready smart warehousing.

Main Frame Structure of the Vertical Carousel

    Main Frame

The main frame is composed of left and right frames (which incorporate guide rails), connecting beams, and diagonal braces, forming a robust and stable whole. Adopting an integrally welded steel frame structure, it ensures stable operation and longterm durability of the equipment.

    Circulating Drive System

This system is the core that realises the "goodstoperson" concept. It is primarily powered by an electric motor, which drives all carriers to move in a circular motion along the vertical tracks through loadcarrying chains and chain drive units.

How to choose the pallet size?

    002
Carrier width: 1875 to 3875 mm
    Carrier depth: 428 / 528 / 628 mm (three options)
    Carrier load capacity: 180 / 350 / 650 kg

When selecting a vertical carousel, it is recommended that you comprehensively consider the weight, individual volume, total inventory quantity, and external dimensions of the totes (or fixtures) used for storing your materials. Our equipment offers a variety of carrier sizes (depth, width, and height are all customizable) and supports three load ratings of 180 kg, 350 kg, and 650 kg. Additionally, the interior can be flexibly configured with drawers, divider components, or intermediate shelves to accommodate the storage needs of different materials.

Based on these features, we recommend that, space permitting, you give priority to choosing a larger‑sized carrier. Larger carriers not only make full use of the equipment’s vertical storage area (with a maximum of 9.1 m² per carrier) but also reduce the total number of carriers, thereby lowering the overall equipment investment cost and maximizing storage capacity per unit floor area – achieving the highest storage return with the smallest investment.

    Customization Services

Our customization services for vertical carousels are designed to deliver tailor-made solutions that fit the unique materials and operating conditions of every business. We understand that storage needs are never one-size-fits-all – from carrier width (adjustable from 1875 to 3875 mm) and depth (three standard options: 428, 528, and 628 mm, with non‑standard customization also available) , to load ratings (three tiers: 180, 350, and 650 kg) – every dimension can be flexibly matched to the weight, volume, and turnover frequency of your materials. The interior space is equally versatile: open‑type structures accommodate standard boxes and cases, drawer cabinets and divider kits keep miniature parts neatly organized, while self‑supporting intermediate shelves provide stable support for large flat workpieces. Beyond that, the equipment’s access opening height, safety door configuration, control system interfaces (supporting WMS/ERP integration) , and even exterior color can all be customized on request.

We offer more than just products – we provide a one‑stop evaluation service that covers site surveys, data analysis, and solution simulation. Simply share your bill of materials, site dimensions, and operational throughput requirements, and our technical team will precisely match the optimal configuration for you, while also reserving room for future capacity expansion. Customization is not merely about meeting today’s needs – it is about continuously empowering your smart logistics for the long term.
